Handle edge cases in logging

**Feature request**
It would be great to have import for middleware.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_import` with default `false`.

No file, test, or entry point is named. Start by locating the middleware and configuration handling in the Shell-based terminal agent, then confirm how imports are currently handled. Done should be a defined middleware import path controlled by enable_import, with the default remaining false and coverage for the requested behavior.
