Optimize helpers for large datasets

**Feature request**
It would be great to have export for handlers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_export` with default `false`.

Start by locating the handler configuration and any existing export-related behavior in the repository. Confirm how configuration options are defined and consumed, then determine the expected behavior for a new enable_export option defaulting to false. Done means handlers can be exported when enabled without changing the default behavior.
