Refactor validation for better readability

Currently helpers lacks proper export support.

**Proposed solution**
Add configurable export with sensible defaults.

Locate the validation helpers and any existing export-related behavior in the repository, since the issue names no files or tests. Read the current helper structure and determine the expected configurable export defaults; the work is done when export behavior is configurable with sensible defaults and the validation code is more readable.
