Add TypeScript types for validation

**Feature request**
It would be great to have retry for data.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_retry` with default `false`.

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the configuration declaration and validation code, then trace the data-processing path to clarify what should be retried and how failures are handled. Done should include the `enable_retry` option defaulting to `false`, with documented and tested retry behavior.
