Improve routes performance

**Feature request**
It would be great to have search for handlers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_search` with default `false`.

Start by locating the route and handler lookup entry points and the configuration parsing for the proposed `enable_search` option. Clarify what handler search should match and how it should improve route performance, then add focused tests covering the default-disabled behavior and enabled search.
