Add configuration options for backup

**Feature request**
It would be great to have analytics for auth.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_analytics` with default `false`.

First resolve the mismatch between the title about backup and the body about authentication analytics. Then locate the configuration handling and the existing auth or analytics entry points; define what enabling analytics changes, where the default is declared, and which tests should verify the disabled default and enabled behavior.
