Support encryption configuration

**Feature request**
It would be great to have export for types.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_export` with default `false`.

No files, tests, or entry points are named. First clarify whether this request concerns encryption or exporting types, then locate the configuration handling and export implementation; done means the agreed `enable_export` option defaults to `false` and the requested production use case is covered.
