Add unit tests for auth

**Feature request**
It would be great to have compression for handlers.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_compression` with default `false`.

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First reconcile the auth title with the compression request, then locate handler configuration and existing unit-test conventions. Done means the requested scope is resolved and the enable_compression option has the stated default and coverage.
