Support backup configuration

**Feature request**
It would be great to have analytics for components.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_analytics` with default `false`.

Start by locating the configuration parsing and default-setting entry points, then trace how component analytics are represented or handled. Confirm the requested enable_analytics option defaults to false and determine how its behavior should be verified; the issue does not name a file or test.
