Add configuration options for filtering

**Feature request**
It would be great to have encryption for services.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_encryption` with default `false`.

No file, test, or entry point is named. First clarify which services, data paths, encryption mechanism, and configuration layer the request covers, then trace how existing deployment options are parsed and applied. Done should include a defined encryption behavior, a default-disabled enable_encryption option, and tests for both configuration states.
