Update auth documentation

**Feature request**
It would be great to have compression for core.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_compression` with default `false`.

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the core configuration handling and the existing auth documentation, then determine where enable_compression belongs and how its default is represented. Done means the option defaults to false, compression is supported as requested, and the relevant documentation explains the setting.
