Improve error messages in handlers

**Feature request**
It would be great to have pagination for hooks.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_pagination` with default `false`.

Start by locating the hook handlers and configuration loading, then inspect how existing handler options and defaults are tested. Confirm the expected pagination behavior for hooks and verify that the new enable_pagination option defaults to false and is honored in production-style hook execution.
