Support analytics configuration

**Feature request**
It would be great to have compression for auth.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_compression` with default `false`.

Start by locating the existing configuration handling and authentication path in the Shell project, then check how current options are documented and tested. Confirm whether compression applies to authentication traffic or analytics, where enable_compression belongs, and how the default false behavior should be verified.
