Add TypeScript types for middleware

It would be great to have logging for auth.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_logging` with default `false`.

Clarify whether the requested change is TypeScript middleware types or an authentication logging option, then define completion around the intended `enable_logging` behavior and its default of `false`.
