Improve auth performance

**Feature request**
It would be great to have export for api.

**Use case**
Many users need this functionality for production deployments.

**Implementation idea**
Add a new config option `enable_export` with default `false`.

Start by locating the authentication configuration handling and the API export entry point in the repository; no specific files or tests are named. Trace how configuration defaults are applied, then verify that enable_export defaults to false and that enabling it exposes the requested export behavior, adding or running relevant tests if available.
