Description
I've factored out the core of the EntityField type to a library named prairie that provides some additional power. Switching to this would probably simplify code and make it easier to derive instances of PersistEntity.

Research direction
Start by reading the existing EntityField type and the prairie package documentation. Trace how EntityField is used in Persistent and how PersistEntity instances are derived. Done means the core uses prairie without losing existing functionality and deriving PersistEntity is simpler, but the issue names no files or tests.
