Description

Expected behavior

On WordPress.com, when switching between sites, the staging sites have clear indication with a label (example below):

On mobile, this indication is not present which could make it confusing to differentiate between the sites (in the example below one is a staging site and one is a production site). This is more of an exception since both staging and production sites have the same domain and usually this won’t be the case. Regardless, the visual indication in the form of a label (or any other form) to mark the site that is staging could be very useful, especially since we are trying to attract more developers to use WordPress.com:

Actual behavior

There is no visual indication of which site is staging and which site is not for mobile devices

Steps to reproduce the behavior
  • Create a site with a Creator plan on WordPress.com
  • Activate Hosting Features from Settings -> Hosting Configuration
  • Create a staging site from Staging site tab: https://wordpress.com/staging-site/{yourAtomicSite}
  • Open the site from the app and confirm that you do not see any visual indication in the site switcher of what site is staging and what site is not

Research direction

Start by reproducing the missing staging-site indication in the Android app using the listed steps, then trace the site switcher UI that displays the sites. Done means the mobile site switcher visibly distinguishes staging sites from production sites, including when both use the same domain.
