Description

Can we do more to document the empty tile training and background reduction. This touches on

https://github.com/weecology/DeepForest/discussions/482

Ideally we would have a very fast, very inexpensive tile screener. Is there a bird anywhere in this tile? Followup bird detector on the individual crops? This is a workflow that many management agencies would want.

Research direction

Start by reading discussion #482 and the issue’s references to empty-tile training and background reduction. No implementation files, tests, or concrete entry point are named, so first clarify whether the deliverable is documentation, a fast tile screener, or a follow-up bird detector. Done is not defined beyond exploring this workflow for management agencies.
