Description

Originally posted as https://github.com/w3c/csswg-test/issues/1235 by @gsnedders on 15 Mar 2017, 22:34 UTC:

Due to the build system not rewriting URLs to support files, it would seem like nothing can use the top-level support directory. However, it exists, and contains the only copies of swatch-green.png and swatch-red.png that don't match every other copy (which per https://github.com/w3c/csswg-test/blob/master/support/support/README would appear to be deliberate, and dates back to fa9f560a5dd74425196782657c3c901777313a53, Hixie's original dump into CVS of an early 2.1 testsuite).

Research direction

Start by inspecting the top-level support directory and support/support/README, then check whether the build system or tests reference it. Determine whether the directory and its distinct swatch-green.png and swatch-red.png files are still needed; done means the issue has a justified keep-or-remove outcome.
