This is something iterm allows (see docs https://iterm2.com/documentation-preferences-profiles-terminal.html#:~:text=Enable%20mouse%20reporting,disabled%20by%20holding%20down%20Option.)
Enable mouse reporting
If selected, applications may choose to receive information about the mouse. This can be temporarily disabled by holding down Option.
When using a full screen editor (vim), it's nice to have mouse=a enabled, but every once in a while I just want to copy-paste something the old-fashioned way, and this feature is nice.
