Description

It is useful to support some execCommand, e.g. cut, paste, insertText, undo/redo, in INPUT/TEXTAREA to utilize undo facility with modification.

As of January 2017, Blink and WebKit support execCommand in INPUT/TEXTAREA[1]

Research direction

Start with the issue text and the linked Chromium discussion at crbug.com/558919, then review how the editing task force documents execCommand behavior for INPUT and TEXTAREA. A complete contribution would define and document the supported command subset, including the expected undo/redo and modification behavior.
