Description

From https://drafts.csswg.org/css-contain-3/#size-container

If [...] the query container does not support container size queries on the relevant axes, then the result of evaluating the size feature is unknown.

It's not clear whether the conditions for supporting container size queries are the same as for supporting size containment.

Research direction

Start with the CSS Containment Level 3 sections linked in the issue: size-container, container-size-query, and size-features. Compare the conditions for supporting container size queries with those for size containment, then clarify the specification so the relationship and relevant axes are explicit. Done means the spec no longer leaves this equivalence ambiguous.
