Research direction

Start with pyvmomi's vim.host.VirtualNic bindings and the distributed portgroup API, using Set-VMHostNetworkAdapter as the behavior to compare. Determine whether an existing entry point supports assigning the virtual NIC, then document the usage or identify the missing capability. The issue names no file or test to run.
