ZSH renders strange % symbol *only* upon startup

Description
- I am on the latest Hyper.app version
- I have searched the issues of this repo and believe that this is not a duplicate
- OS version and name: macOS Big Sur 11.4 (20F71)
- Hyper.app version: Hyper 3.1.0-canary.5 (stable)
Issue
I've only been able to reproduce this in the following circumstances:
- Brand new Hyper bootup
- Using ZSH
Doesn't happen with Terminal.app
It happens even with vanilla .zshrc

zsh 5.8 (arm-apple-darwin20.2.0)
