Description

  • I am on the latest Hyper.app version
  • I have searched the issues of this repo and believe that this is not a duplicate
  • OS version and name: ChromeOS v71 Stable w/ Crostini

  • Hyper.app version: 2.1.0

  • Link of a Gist with the contents of your .hyper.js:

  • Relevant information from devtools (CMD+ALT+I on macOS, CTRL+SHIFT+I elsewhere):

  • The issue is reproducible in vanilla Hyper.app: I'm using vanilla Hyper

Issue

I'm experiencing typing delay in Hyper on my HP Chromebook x2 w/ Intel Core m3 CPU. The default terminal app in Crostini doesn't experience this same lag. I tried rebooting the system, but that didn't help. It's a brand new system, so it should be fresh. Visual Studio Code, another Electron.js-based application, doesn't have any typing delays either. Hyper was installed by downloading and installing the Debian package.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the typing delay in vanilla Hyper on ChromeOS v71 Stable with Crostini and compare it with the default Crostini terminal and Visual Studio Code. Use the application's developer tools and the Debian installation context to narrow down the source; done means typing is responsive without the reported lag on this environment.
