Description

An idea I've been thinking about is deploying Vector as an AWS Lambda Layer, which would collect logs, metrics, etc, and ship them right from the Lambda function. This would serve users that do not want to use AWS CloudWatch to collect this data.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the linked AWS Lambda Layers documentation and defining how a Vector Lambda Layer would collect and ship logs, metrics, and other observability data without AWS CloudWatch. Done should be a concrete, agreed implementation scope for the Lambda deployment and its supported data paths.
