Description
Segment is a hosted analytics pipeline focused on analytics data. We've yet to consider a Segment sink because Vector and Segment are serving different use cases. But as we embark on marketing and education efforts to promote vanilla application event streams you start to see events as multi-purpose pieces of data not tied to any specific domain (as it should be). This same event stream can be used for observability and analytics, for example. As a result, I would like to integrate with services like Segment to open that door.

Start by reviewing Segment's hosted analytics pipeline and the repository's existing sink integrations. Determine the required Segment event flow and the scope of a new sink, then verify the integration against the project's sink tests and acceptance criteria.
