Description

I tried using the uutils and was compiling another piece of software from source with the ./configure && make && make install dance, when I got an error saying that the files were newer than system clock. Removing uutils from the PATH seemed to fix the issue. Is it a problem with touch?

Research direction

Start by reproducing the report with the uutils touch command while running ./configure && make && make install, recording the system clock and resulting file timestamps. Compare the behavior with uutils removed from PATH; done means identifying whether touch causes the timestamp error and documenting or fixing the confirmed cause.
