Description

Hi, uutils mainteners

we confirmed that the uu pr utility in our test just said and exited

relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$ sudo ./pr /dev/mem
pr: Operation not permitted (os error 1)
relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$

without outputting a single byte, the gnu one outputs the content of the file until reached the error and stopped

Research direction

Start by locating the Rust implementation and tests for the uu pr utility, then reproduce the command with /dev/mem and compare its behavior with GNU pr. Done means the utility outputs available bytes before reporting the operation-not-permitted error, with coverage for this case.
