Description

Hi, uutils mainteners

we confirmed that when passing $'\xFF', to the uu pr, i see, it just hangs, like you runned simply ./pr

relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$ ./pr $'\xFF'
^C

while the gnu one

relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$ gnupr $'\xFF'
gnupr: ''$'\377': Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character
relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$

it errors out

Research direction

Reproduce the hang with ./pr $'\xFF' and compare it with gnupr $'\xFF', as shown in the issue. Locate the Rust implementation of the pr command and determine where this invalid or incomplete multibyte argument is handled; done means it reports an error instead of waiting for input.
