Description

Hi UTM team,

I’m running a macOS guest (macOS Tahoe 26.1) on Apple Silicon (M4) using
UTM → Virtualize → macOS.

I’m seeing an issue specifically with the trackpad behavior inside the macOS
guest. Two-finger scrolling works, but there is a noticeable delay before
scrolling actually starts. It feels like the system waits briefly before the
first scroll events are generated.

Important detail:
- This issue happens with the built-in trackpad
- Mouse wheel scrolling works normally and does not show this delay

The lag is most noticeable when:
- starting to scroll on a page (short pause before movement begins)
- making short scroll gestures
- scrolling in Safari and Chrome

I’ve tried:
- Increasing scroll speed
- Adjusting com.apple.scrollwheel.scaling
- Enabling inertia and reducing motion

These help somewhat, but the initial lag before scrolling starts on the trackpad
remains.

My question:
Is this delay inherent to how trackpad (multitouch) events are currently forwarded
to macOS guests via Apple’s Virtualization.framework, or is there any potential
for improving initial scroll responsiveness for trackpads in the future?

Thanks for the great work on UTM — everything else is working very well.

**Configuration**
* UTM Version: 4.7.4
* macOS Version: 26.2
* Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): Macbook M4 Pro
