Description

Since I build my self (on freebsd) even if I build a tagged release it seems the version reported is always "dev", web clipper rejects this as being to old.

Ideally it would also accept that version string perhaps with showing a warning.

Research direction

Start by locating the web clipper's version compatibility check and trace how the reported "dev" version is rejected. Update the behavior so dev instances are accepted, with a warning if appropriate; verify that tagged releases and dev versions follow the intended paths.
