Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently, when creating an external table from the CLI for local paths (or even for S3), if the directory already has a delta log, we need to confirm that the schema of the already instantiated table confirms with the schema specified in the table create command.
This will need some extra implementation to exhaustively cover all supported types. We should also extend this to other table formats e.g. Iceberg , Parquet etc.

Research direction
Start from the CLI path for creating external tables from local paths or S3, then trace how an existing delta log and table schema are handled. Done means the requested schema is checked against the existing table across supported types, with the intended extension to Iceberg and Parquet accounted for.
