Description
What would you like to see added?
When transferring data from a laptop or personal computer using Globus, the default path "/~/" typically refers to the user's home directory and "/" refers to the root directory. In Windows systems, this often points to the "C" drive, while on macOS, it usually corresponds to "/Users/".
To access data from a partition mounted on a separate drive or an external drive other than the root or home directory, you'll need to grant access to the directory you want to make accessible via Globus transfer. Here's how you can do it:
For Windows:
- Click on the Globus Connect Personal icon in the system panel.
- Navigate to "Options" -> "Access".
- Add the necessary path to the directory you want to access, and ensure that the permission is set to writable to allow file transfers.
For macOS: The steps are similar. However, instead of "Options," navigate to "Preferences".

Research direction
Start by locating the documentation page covering Globus transfers between a laptop or personal computer and Cheaha. Add the Windows and macOS instructions for granting Globus Connect Personal access to external or separately mounted drives, including writable permissions for transfers. Done means both platform-specific paths and settings navigation are documented accurately.
