Description

sql"$e" becomes Fragment[Nothing] in Scala 3 if e: Encoder[A] for some type variable A rather than a concrete type. This is due to https://github.com/lampepfl/dotty/issues/12343#issuecomment-836631142

Research direction

Start at the sql interpolator entry point and the Encoder[A] interpolation path; reproduce the Scala 3 case described in the issue and read the linked compiler discussion. Done means the generic interpolation no longer produces Fragment[Nothing], with regression coverage for the reported case.
