Research direction

The issue mentions multiple clients, intermittent connectivity, and replication, but names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the replication documentation and relevant tests, then determine whether this connection pattern is covered; done means documenting the expected behavior or identifying a reproducible gap.
