Rule of thumb for method choosing?

By _method_ I mean method for spatial discretization and ODE solving. Currently I'm just mimicking the settings in examples folder of Trixi somewhat blindly. Does there exist any rule of thumb for method choosing, say "usually … will work on …"?

It would be great if such a section is included in the document.

Review the examples folder and the current documentation to identify how spatial discretization and ODE-solving methods are selected. Document practical rules of thumb describing which methods generally suit which situations, with enough guidance for users to choose settings without copying examples blindly; done means the guidance is included in the documentation.
