Description
Hello,
I'm trying to use markdown2 with Django but i get errors with special charactes like ãéç inside the text, the error is:
The text that I'm trying to sabe is that:
aaaaaã
======
aaaa
If I remove the character 'ã' it work properly.. I'm using this to save:
@signals.pre_save(sender=Artigo)
def artigo_pre_save(instance, **kwargs):
from markdown2 import markdown
instance.content = markdown(instance.content_markdown)
This decorator comes from Django-Annoying and work well, should I change anything to use special characters?
Thank you.

Research direction
Start at the markdown() call in the Django pre_save handler and reproduce the issue with the shown input containing ã, é, and ç. Trace whether the failure occurs during Markdown conversion or when the generated content is saved; done means accented text is processed and saved without an encoding error.
