Description
Now, I love ligatures, but is there any reason why the [| and |] ligatures have no resemblance of a vertical bar and a square bracket? This thing practically renders as a box, which is very confusing. It looks as if the font is missing a glyph. My guess is that even the slightest vertical extent of the bar below and above the bracket would help a lot in terms of readability, just like in the non-ligature variant it requires only very little space between the glyphs to read them as what they are.

Research direction
Reproduce the F# [| and |] ligatures and compare them with the non-ligature characters. Inspect the font source for the glyph definitions and adjust the shapes so the vertical bar and square bracket remain recognizable, then verify the rendered result at relevant sizes.
