If you press up to get the previous command, there is leading whitespace in the command, so it's not just a rendering issue.

tmuxp 1.55.0, libtmux 0.46.0

Research direction

Reproduce the issue with the provided tmuxp configuration on tmuxp 1.55.0 and libtmux 0.46.0, then inspect how shell_command values are passed to tmux and how command history is populated. Done means the commands from the example no longer acquire leading whitespace when recalled with the Up key.
