Description

we are using git subtree to vendor a build-system. the subtree contains tons of commits, that we do not want to see in our project's changelog (too many to remove them manually).

it might be nice to be able to exclude some files/directories from the changelog.

Research direction

Start by locating the implementation and tests for the git changelog command; the issue does not name specific files or test entry points. Define how files and directories are selected for exclusion, then verify that excluded subtree commits are omitted while other changelog entries remain.
