Description

  • Some UI right inside Tilt, to submit feedback to the person maintaining the local dev infrastructure (including Tilt).
  • This could be a simple button which brings up a modal, for the user to type in a comment.
  • The feedback is sent to a Slack channel and/or creates a GitHub issue, (@-mentioning the DevEx person).
  • As part of this feedback submission, a Tilt Cloud snapshot may be generated behind the scenes, and other diagnostic information could be collected too. This would be attached to the GitHub issue / Slack message, so that the DevEx person has as much information to address the bug/problem/feature request.

Research direction

Start by reviewing Tilt's existing UI and the linked Tilt Cloud snapshots documentation. Define the feedback flow around a button, comment modal, and submission to Slack and/or GitHub, including diagnostic data. Done means users can submit feedback with the relevant snapshot or diagnostics attached.
