Checklist
- I have used the search function to see if someone else has already submitted the same bug report.
- I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.
App
K-9 Mail
App version
8.2
Where did you get the app from?
F-Droid
Android version
14, CalyxOS 5.14.1
Device model
Moto G52 "rhode"
Steps to reproduce
- Backup using Seedvault (https://github.com/seedvault-app/seedvault) (Google's backup tool might work as well, be aware Seedvault uses D2D mode (emulates device to device transfers) on modern versions)
- Restore backup on a new profile
- No notifications from K-9 Mail (permission isn't re-granted when restoring)
Expected behavior
K-9 prompts for the notification permission again.
Actual behavior
K-9 only prompts for the notification permission on initial setup.
Logs
No response

Research direction
Start by reproducing the restore flow on Android 14 with Seedvault, then trace K-9 Mail's notification-permission handling during initial setup and restored profiles. Done means a restored installation prompts for notification permission when it has not been granted; no relevant file or test is named in the issue.
