Description
Checklist

- I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.
App
Thunderbird for Android
App version
8.0
Where did you get the app from?
Google Play
Android version
14
Device model
Galaxy Tab A9+
Steps to reproduce
Preconditions:
Have at least one account added.
- Go to Support Thunderbird
- Choose any purchase value for a monthly subscription (let's say the lowest one-but it happens with each one)
- Tap on Continue to payment.
- In the Review and Agree Google play prompt press Agree
- In the Google Play buy prompt tap Subscribe.
- In the Essential Monthly contribution tap "Modify Monthly payment".
Expected behavior
As a user, I would expect to be shown the monthly subscriptions options again and select a new value. (or at least to be let known that I need to cancel current subscription plan in Google Play Store in order to create a new one)
Actual behavior
Once "Modify Monthly Payment" is selected, the user is taken to the Google Play Store Subscriptions where the only options available are Cancel or Pause subscriptions.

Research direction
Reproduce the flow in Thunderbird for Android 8.0 on Android 14, from Support Thunderbird through the Google Play purchase prompt to “Modify Monthly payment.” Then trace the monthly contribution and Google Play subscription handling. Done means the user can select a different monthly amount, or receives clear guidance that cancellation is required.
