Problem you are trying to solve

Sometimes you habe to take a look in your junk folders to check if there are any Mails. Or you want continue a draft vor looking for a mail you have sent some time ago and you are not sure from which account you sent it.

If you have several Accounts this could consume some time to find what you are looking for if you have to check account for account.

Suggested solution

It would be much easier if there where some more unified folders like the inbox. At least the following folders should be unified:

  • Sent
  • Junk
  • Deleted
  • Drafts

All folders above have the same name across the different providers or at least could easily be identified by their name to unify them automatically.

For some rare cases where the folder couldn't be identified by the name the user should be able to mark a folder as one of the types above.

Research direction

Start by reviewing how the existing unified inbox identifies folders across accounts and providers. Then investigate how Sent, Junk, Deleted, and Drafts are currently represented and whether users can identify unmatched folders. Done means the proposed folder types are unified consistently, with a user-controlled fallback for folders that cannot be identified automatically.
