Description

Since upgrading to the Android 8.1 beta, K9 with certificate authentication no longer works. adb logcat shows the following: java.security.UnrecoverableKeyException: Failed to obtain information about private. I'd imagine something must have changed in the Android API to cause this to happen, but I figured I'd open this here before submitting a ticket into the abyss of Android bug reports.

Steps to reproduce
  1. Set up K9 with certificate auth
  2. Upgrade to Android 8.1 beta
  3. K9 can no longer authenticate
Environment

K-9 Mail version: 5.301

Android version: 8.1

Account type (IMAP, POP3, WebDAV/Exchange): IMAP w/ Certificate Authentication

Research direction

Start by reproducing certificate authentication on Android 8.1 and inspect the adb logcat UnrecoverableKeyException. The issue is done when K-9 Mail authenticates successfully with the stated IMAP certificate setup, or the Android 8.1 incompatibility is clearly identified and documented.
