Expected behavior
The set amount of preview lines (under Display settings) should show the email's body text over this amount of lines from start
Actual behavior
The set amount of preview lines (under Display settings) is not respected in case a blank line is part of this amount of lines: in such a case, additional lines after the blank line are not being previewed, even when the set amount of preview lines has not been reached yet

Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue in the Display settings with an email body containing a blank line, using the configured preview-line count. Trace how the preview text counts and renders lines around the blank line. Done means the configured number of preview lines is respected and text after a blank line is shown when the count has not been reached.
