App
Thunderbird for Android
App version
2.2.334
Where did you get the app from?
Google Play
Android version
Android V 16, Samsung One UI very 8
Device model
Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+
Steps to reproduce
1 Open Thunderbird
2 use delete icon to delete unwanted emails (one email at a time)
Expected behavior
Emails should be deleted when using the delete icon.
Actual behavior
Every once and a while, doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when it happens, when using the delete icon, links within the email open in an external browser rather than the email being deleted. Seems to occur more frequely with emails that contain commercial links like 'Canadian Tire' 'flyer' (rather than say emails from individuals or notifications from, say, Craigslist.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the delete-icon action in Thunderbird for Android with emails containing commercial links, using the listed Samsung device and Android version if available. Trace the delete interaction when the email is open and compare it with the link-opening behavior. Done means the selected email is deleted reliably and embedded links are not opened by the delete icon.
