  • I have used the search function to see if someone else has already submitted the same bug report.
  • I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.
App

Thunderbird for Android

App version

20.0

Where did you get the app from?

Other

Android version

GrapheneOS 2026062301

Device model

Pixel 10 Pro XL

Steps to reproduce

Create 3-4 IMAP accounts and run in background.

Expected behavior

Doesn't use a ton of battery

Actual behavior

I'm seeing ~22% battery usage for the thundebird app. I rarely use it, so it's mostly in the background.

I do have allow background usage on (for obvious reasons).

Is this expected, or is it a bug? I use OpenPGP on all accounts, and all email is encrypted on Stalwart.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the report with 3–4 IMAP accounts running in the background on Thunderbird for Android 20.0, then inspect Android battery usage and available logs. Compare behavior with background usage enabled, including the reported OpenPGP and Stalwart setup. Done means determining whether the battery use is expected or identifying and fixing excessive consumption.
