Description

  • I have used the search function to see if someone else has already submitted the same bug report.
  • I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.
App

Thunderbird for Android

App version

18.0

Where did you get the app from?

Google Play

Android version

12

Device model

Samsung Note 10+

Steps to reproduce
  1. This is using a POP account
  2. View a message in the inbox
  3. Hit the garbage can
  4. Do not check the POP server; the email is still on the server
  5. No way to move that message back to the inbox
  6. Check emails, and now the message is gone from the server as well
Expected behavior

There should be an option to select a message in the Trash folder and move it back to the inbox/undlete.

Every email client I have used, literally since the invention of email, has had a facility to undelete a message. This is SERIOUSLY braindead and horrid UX.

Actual behavior

Nada. Unable to move/undelete emails from the Trash.

Research direction

Reproduce the POP-account flow on Android: delete a message from the inbox, open Trash, and inspect the available message actions. Done means a Trash message can be selected and moved back to the inbox without unexpected server deletion; no source files or tests are named in the issue.
